Position: Mine Manager
Reports to: Director, Projects
Role Overview: Coordinate all activities of the mine operation, based on engineering and mine planning, complying with the projected production by the engineering and planning areas.
Knowledge and application of procedures, work instructions and records.
Ensure environmental and social concerns in open pit operations are managed as a strategic focus area.
Ensure production targets and profit margins are achieved cost effectively and safely on a sustainable basis for the business unit
Actively participate in multi-department working meetings, giving feedback to his team, always focused on the achievement of results.
Develop and manage information of the area, which is analyzed for the development and delivery of reports to management.
Prepare and control the annual production and costs budget, administration of human and material resources, optimizing their use, controlling, reducing costs and detecting the needs of the department.
Plan and meet production objectives and goals, short-term mining plans, drilling, time and movement control of mine materials and equipment.
Committed to the continuous improvement of the area and development of the staff in his department, interacting and providing support to other departments.
Manage and coordinate the mine contartor(s).
Effectively interact with various stakeholders (Safety, Planning, Maintenance, Processing, Contractors, etc.)
Other related duties as required.
Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
Degree in Mining Engineering ;
10+ years experience and at least 3 years' working exposure as an appointed Open Pit Mine Manager is essential.
Requires knowledge of Exploitation of:
Best safety and environment requriments at the site
Production, engineering and planning models.
Mining Laws for Mining.
Operating Equipment Performance.
Costs and expenses budgets.
Models of production and reserves.
Operational geology and grade control
Operational geotechnical practices
Strong problem-solving and trouble shooting skills, strong attention to detail and strong analytical skills
An ability to communicate and work effectively with other employees and contractors using tact, courtesy, and good judgment.
Fluency in English is essential - spoken and written
