Shire Market Access Manager in Istanbul, Turkey

The purpose of this role is to align innovative and value added Shire offers in Genetic Disease therapy area with the needs of a changing health system and business approach. This jobholder will actively support the commercial objectives of the country through the development and execution of Shire's Market Access commercial strategies and projects encompassing all business franchises. The National Access Manager will do so by developing a strong network with local health authorities, patient and professional associations and other influencers. This role is based in Istanbul, Turkey


  • Prepares health economic submissions and conducts strategic health economic assessments to support submissions for new product entry and adoption and for growth and penetration of established products

  • Works with regional Value Demonstration & Access (VD&A) teams to pulse external environments and advises on value added opportunities with suggested action plans

  • Evaluates and creates executive summaries to be delivered to stakeholders based on health economics models, reflecting the key elements to determine supporting data necessary to justify the product’s price and reimbursement level

  • Identifies and maintains successful research relationships with HEOR key opinion leaders

  • Integrates HEOR into business plans as a tool for commercial (Sales, Marketing and VD&A) teams and collaborates with them to develop health economics and cost effectiveness arguments

  • Effectively communicates health economic plans and economic study results undertaken by Shire and by other organizations to internal and external audiences

  • Maintains relationships with key external stakeholders

  • Tracks prices in reference countries and takes necessary actions for price submissions for in market products.

  • Works with Grobal Pricing organization for the determination & calculation of reimbursement & manufacturer selling prices

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Applies a portfolio management perspective to define strategic priorities

  • Leverages P5 (patients, professionals, providers, payers, policymakers) stakeholders research to identify unmet customer needs

  • Anticipates how Shire's objectives will impact customers

  • Contributes to the identification of different focus areas of a Market Access strategy depending on market archetypes

  • Interacts with other functions and teams to foster alignment between strategies and objectives

  • Defines the resources requirements to implement the projects/activities, related roles and responsibilities and provide information to concerned departments

  • Knows the key internal stakeholders at Shire and their strategy and objectives

  • Leverages stakeholder management tools and techniques to prioritize stakeholders in relation to influence and relevance

  • Able to organize the communication, adjust to the audience to ensure understanding and comprehend communication from others


  • Bachelor’s degree required in a business or life science related discipline, additional education preferred

  • 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical/medical device industry, in the areas of Market Access/HEOR

  • Experience in business planning and/or market analysis and production of Value Propositions based on Market Access principles, and knowledge and experience with HEOR modeling and analysis

  • Language requirement: Fluency in English in addition to local country language as appropriate
