The Operations Director Cargill Animal Nutrition(CAN) Middle East & Africa (MEA) will be responsible for leading the operations and supply chain teams in this region. The region currently has two Cargill Premix Nutrition(CPN) sites (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa and Amman, Jordan), one toll manufacturing site in Turkey and ingredients distribution businesses in Turkey and Egypt. Furthermore this region sources products from various sites within the CAN manufacturing network.
This role requires this leader to be passionate about the animal nutrition business, contribute to the business leadership team, and demonstrate operations and supply chain leadership. This individual must have a proven track record as a leader that aligns with the culture & values of Cargill Animal Nutrition, applies their unique skills & experiences to impact the business results, and commits to developing others for future business leadership
Business partnership for CAN MEA/CPN Global (80%)
aligning the functional agenda/strategy with the business strategy/priorities;
maintaining close relationships with MD CAN MEA, the CAN MEA LT and Operations Leads in CPN Global;
leading the annual functional business planning process for CAN MEA – in coordination with the CPN Technical Director;
providing expertise and support in the area of general operations management; environment, health & safety (EHS); food safety, quality and regulatory compliance (FSQR); supply chain; process technology and project management;
overseeing performance in all functional areas in CAN MEA – guiding the Operations Leads in reaching functional goals;
providing leadership and coordination for the team of up to 4 functional leads (EHS, FSQR, Capital Projects Lead, Supply Chain) – in full alignment with the respective CAN global functional leads;
sharing best practices – within CPN as well as across the CAN enterprise;
facilitating a deeply rooted continuous improvement culture;
leading the development of the functional talent pipeline in CAN and CPN; participate in talent assessment and performance reviews of the Operational Leads in CPN – in partnership with the MD’s;
managing the overall BASE CAPEX budget for CPN – including (re-)allocation between CPN businesses in alignment with the global organization;
overseeing execution of the BASE and NON-BASE project portfolio in CAN MEA – SAFE, in scope, in budget, in time;
Integrating acquisition targets from an overall Operations point of view;
Ensuring full compliance with operating permits in CPN’s businesses.
Member of the Global CPN Operations Team (20%)
ensuring solid connection with the Global CPN Operations Organization and the broader CAN;
participating in assigned/relevant global/regional functional meetings, expertise groups and projects;
Maintaining gatekeeper/COE responsibilities for assigned functional area.
Higher education in Engineering - Bachelor’s Degree min.
10 years of experience in relevant industry (feed, premix, animal health products and food manufacturing) – operations and supply chain
Extensive experience in operations management
Excellent leadership, communication and influencing skills
Experience leading multiple/remote production locations
Experience in working in a matrix organization and multinational company / international environment
Strong values and ethics
Courage - willingness and ability to voice different viewpoints in cross-functional setting
Strong conceptual and analytical skills
Proven track record in talent development
Fluent in English
